RESPIRATORY REHABILITATION PROGRAM FOR PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASES

The inclusion of patients with pulmonary disease in respiratory rehabilitation program is the primary interest of researchers in the THORAX Foundation. The exercise in these patients reduces the feeling of dyspnea effort, leg fatigue and improves their quality of life.

The respiratory rehabilitation program supervised by the researchers of the THORAX Foundation and lasts 8 to 12 weeks for each patient. Patients visiting Respiratory Rehabilitation Unit at "Evangelismos" Hospital 3 times a week for one hour each time, and conducted by researchers body and breathing exercises and participate in sessions of exercise.

PERFUSION RESPIRATORY AND PERIPHERAL MUSCLE IN EXERCISE IN ATHLETES

The study of competition in respiratory and peripheral regarding the adequacy of blood flow during exercise in athletes, an important area for investigation by researchers at the THORAX Foundation to better understand the mechanisms underlying mechanisms of muscle fatigue. At the research center THORAX Foundation has developed in recent years the method of infrared spectroscopy to record the blood flow and oxygenation of respiratory and peripheral muscle during exercise in athletes.

RESPIRATORY MUSCLE FATIGUE IN EXERCISE IN ATHLETES

The elite athletes with exercise-induced arterial hypoxemia manifest diaphragmatic fatigue during exercise. The purpose of experiments conducted in THORAX Foundation specialized investigators, the method of optoelectronics plethysmography (OEP) is to consider whether the respiratory muscle fatigue contribute to reduction of blood flow in peripheral muscle in athletes.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DAILY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND RESPIRATORY FUNCTION OF PATIENTS WITH PULMONARY DISEASE

In the interests of researchers in the THORAX Foundation is the assessment of daily physical activity in patients with pulmonary diseases. Through systematic exercise patients trained to enhance their fitness and improve their daily physical activity.

BREATHING PATTERN CHANGE IN EXERCISE IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD)

Learning the ideal breathing pattern in patients with pulmonary diseases to reduce the feeling of breathlessness and better oxygenation of the blood is another area of interest among researchers of the THORAX Foundation. The researchers' goal is that patients with pulmonary diseases feel better, easier to perform daily activities and exercise safely.
